Temple Isaiah

Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Sisterhood periodically sponsors an adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah program open to all Temple members and taught by our clergy and the Religious School staff. The one-year adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah program includes study of our liturgy, theology, and a Torah portion, and it may culminate, for those who choose, in a group Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony. Ability to read prayer book Hebrew is a prerequisite.

Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah Classes

B’nai Mitzvah: It’s not just for teenagers! 'The journey to Adult B’nai Mitzvah at Temple Isaiah is a two-year process. The first year involves participation in a Hebrew course through the “Ivrit la-Kol” collaborative plus six study sessions with our clergy. The second years include regular study with the clergy team, including study of the liturgy of the service, Torah reading skills and trope, Torah study and D’var Torah preparation. The current Adult B'nai Mitzvah class began their studies in the fall of 2010 and will culminate their studies when they become Bar/Bat Mitzvah at a Shabbat service which they will lead in the late spring of 2012.

If you are interested in Adult Bnai Mitzvah, the next two year cycle will begin in Fall 2012.
