The Youth and Family Educational Council (“the Education Council”) was formed in 2008-2009, and effectively replaces the YET (Youth Education Team). The role of the Education Council is to facilitate dialogue within the community and to identify, review, and advise on programmatic goals and objectives of the Temple Isaiah Religious School, Tichon Isaiah High School, Family Education, and Youth Group activities. Temple members who are interested in supporting the many programs for youth and their families are encouraged to join the education council.
In addition, religious school parents and all temple members are welcome to attend meetings that are of particular interest to you. In recent years, the council has addressed such topics as the Hebrew curriculum, approaches to talking about God, meeting the needs of diverse learners, and building community. We look forward to the upcoming year as we explore the topic of Jewish Literacy and other agenda items. Please join us once a month in the evening to participate in the Education Council. For more information please don’t hesitate to contact Bruce Horwitz, Chair of Youth and Family Education Council at bhorwitz@rcn.com.
The Executive Education Council consists of the Director of Congregational Learning, the Vice President of Education, the Chair and Vice Chair of the Education Council. The role of the Executive Council is to serve as a personnel committee and to provide the Director of Congregational Learning with guidance in addressing sensitive issues that may arise.
Parent Liaision: Each grade at Temple Isaiah has one or two parents who serve as a liaison to the grade coordinator for the year. The liaisons help support the many special programs sponsored by the religious school and organize parent volunteers as needed.
