Erev Shabbat
Most Erev Shabbat services from September through June begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evenings. One Erev Shabbat service a month begins at 6:15 p.m. Summer Erev Shabbat services (end of June through Labor Day weekend) are scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on Friday evenings. Our congregational Erev Shabbat services offered at 6:15 pm last about 1 hour, and are appropriate for families and children of all ages. Please check the Temple Isaiah calendar for weekly service times.
Minyan
Throughout the year, the congregation gathers for a Shabbat morning minyan service in the chapel beginning at 9:00 a.m. Here, congregants gather to worship and discuss the Torah reading of the week, usually led by Rabbi Brown. Dress is informal. A URJ commentary on the week's portion is posted on the Web every week, and the Hebrew and English text, plus recorded (RealAudio) cantillation can be found at the Navigating the Bible site.
B’Nai Mitzvah Shabbat
Our Bar and Bat Mitzvah Shabbat services begin at 11:00 a.m. on Shabbat morning in the sanctuary. These services are special opportunities for the congregation to help celebrate an important life-cycle event with our younger members. Click here for the Bar / Bat Mitzvah Handbook.
Shir Shabbat
Our Shir Shabbat service is for children in fifth grade and under and their families. Get more information under Families with Young Children.
Tot Shabbat Family Services
Once a month members of our clergy lead an Erev Shabbat service for children ages 0-6 and their families. Get more information under Families with Young Children.
Kabbalat Shabbat
Our congregational Kabbalat Shabbat services offered at 6:15 p.m. last about one hour, and are appropriate for families and children of all ages. We are pleased to offer complimentary childcare for families with young children who would like to attend Kabbalat Shabbat Services. Childcare will be provided by two experienced teenagers in Rooms 11/13, with a snack and fun activities provided. Please RSVP to Jodi Jarvis, jjarvis@templeisaiah.net with your name, your child’s name and age, to reserve a space for your child.
Yom Shabbat
Yom Shabbat is a special opportunity to spend one Shabbat each month at the temple, exploring a specific Jewish theme. This year's themes will range from the Book of Isaiah to Jewish activism to Yiddish film, and several others. Yom Shabbat often starts with Shabbat dinner and Friday night services, continuing with a Saturday afternoon program with speakers, a panel discussion, film, or some other form of presentation, and concluding with Havdalah.
