Shabbat Morning

Shabbat Morning Minyan

Throughout the year, the congregation gathers for a Shabbat morning minyan service in the chapel beginning at 9:00 a.m. Here, congregants gather to worship and discuss the Torah reading of the week, usually led by Rabbi Brown. Dress is informal. A URJ commentary on the week's portion is posted on the Web every week, and the Hebrew and English text, plus recorded (RealAudio) cantillation can be found at the Navigating the Bible site.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Shabbat

Our Bar and Bat Mitzvah Shabbat services begin at 11:00 a.m. on Shabbat morning in the sanctuary. These services are special opportunities for the congregation to help celebrate an important life-cycle event with our younger members.

Simchat Shabbat

Simchat Shabbat is a service for children in kindergarten through third grade and their families led by Rabbi Brown. Once a month we gather on Shabbat morning to celebrate Shabbat.  We use an age-appropriate Siddur (prayerbook), do a lot of singing, read from the weekly Torah portion and hear a story.  Following the service, we gather for a short Kiddush and nosh.
Dates for Simchat Shabbat for 5768 (2007-08) are:
November 3 · December 1 · January 5 · February 9 · March 15 · April 4 (Friday night) · May 10
All Services begin at 11:00 AM.

Shir Shabbat

Our Shir Shabbat service is for 4th-6th grade students and their families.  Led by Temple Isaiah educator, Adena Kemper, and a song leader, the Shir Shabbat service supplements the tefillah (prayer) curriculum of the religious school.  Most Shir Shabbat services are followed by a JYGI (Junior Youth Group of Isaiah) event for grades 5-8.
Shir Shabbat dates for 5768 (2007-08) are:
November 3 · December 1· January 5 · February 9 · March 15 · May 10
All services begin at 11:00 AM.

Seeking Shabbat

A bi-monthly Shabbat morning minyan led by Temple members, Daniel Sheff and David Smerling.  A meditative and musical way to experience Shabbat worship.  Seeking Shabbat services take place in the chapel at 11:00.  Please see the Temple Isaiah calendar for Seeking Shabbat service times.

High Holy Days

High Holy Day services are conducted in double services on both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to accommodate various needs of our members. Adult services include children in grades four and above; younger school-age children are invited to attend a service conducted especially for them during the afternoon of the holidays. Child care is provided for infants and preschoolers during the adult services.

Festivals

The congregation gathers for worship on all the holidays of the Jewish year, including festive celebrations of Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Chanukah, Purim, Passover and Shavuot. Music is a vital part of all our religious services, and whether singing together or responding to the choir, members experience worship in a joyful, spiritual way.

Service times for the different festivals vary. Please check the Temple calendar for times of both evening and morning festival services.
