Erev Shabbat Services

From September through June, most Erev Shabbat services begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evenings and at least twice a month, Erev Shabbat services begin at 6:15 p.m. Summer Erev Shabbat services (end of June through Labor Day weekend) are scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on Friday evenings. Our congregational Erev Shabbat services offered at 6:15 p.m. last about one hour and are appropriate for families and children of all ages. Please check the Temple Isaiah calendar for weekly service times.

Minyan Sevices

Throughout the year, the congregation gathers for a Shabbat morning minyan service in the chapel beginning at 9:00 a.m. Here, congregants gather to worship and discuss the Torah reading of the week. Dress is informal. A URJ commentary on the week's portion is posted on the Web every week, and the Hebrew and English text plus recorded (RealAudio) cantillation can be found at the Navigating the Bible site.

B’Mitzvah Service

Our B'Mitzvah Shabbat services begin at 11:00 a.m. on Shabbat morning in the sanctuary. These services are special opportunities for the congregation to help celebrate an important life-cycle event with our younger members.

Kabbalat Shabbat Service

Our congregational Kabbalat Shabbat services offered at 6:15 p.m. last about one hour, and are appropriate for families and children of all ages.

Shabbat Shira

The Shabbat known as Shabbat Shira is the week in our Torah-reading cycle when we recount our deliverance from slavery. Every year, congregations around the world celebrate Shabbat Shira with a special musical service, in some way echoing the songs of joy sung by our ancestors once they had escaped their Egyptian taskmasters. In recent years, we have invited a guest musician or band to sing on the Friday night of Shabbat Shira. This service starts at 7:30, to allow time for lots of singing, and for our guest to share something of his or her Jewish musical journey.
