A Weekend of Philip Roth

Saturday, December 16, 7:00 PM
Sunday, December 17, 9:15 AM

Are you a Philip Roth fan? Philip Roth is one of the most awarded and controversial American writers of his generation, and a sociologist of Jewish life in America.

On Saturday evening, December 16, noted Brandeis professors Sylvia Fishman and William “Billy” Flesch will discuss Roth’s life and literature in a panel-discussion format moderated by Brandeis professor and Temple member, Stephen Whitfield.

Get in the mood by reading a Philip Roth novel. His most famous novels include Portnoy’s Complaint, The Plot Against America, The Human Stain and American Pastoral (winner of the 1975 Pulitzer Prize).

During the Isaiah Breakfast program on Sunday morning, December 17, Northeastern University professor Larry Lowenthal will talk about movies made based Roth’s novels, show film clips, and discuss why Roth’s writing has proven so resistant to cinematic treatment.

Don’t miss this exciting weekend of Roth!
