Alan Sherman, Executive Director

Alan joined Temple Isaiah as its first Executive Director in December of 2020.

Alan leads strategic and operational initiatives for the Temple, working side by side with clergy and lay leadership in sacred partnership. He oversees the staff and is responsible for all day-to-day management of the Temple.

Alan previously served for more than five years as Vice President of Marketing and Advancement at Hebrew College, where he led marketing, communications, and fundraising initiatives for more than 25 academic programs serving 2,500 students. Reporting to the College’s President, Alan had broad administrative and operational responsibilities as well as accountability for strategy across multiple areas.

Prior to Hebrew College, Alan held leadership positions in marketing at multiple Boston-area technology companies in a variety of sectors including asset tracking, video analytics, speech recognition, and electronic displays. Alan earned his MBA at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and his BA in Psychology at the University of Rochester. He grew up on Long Island, New York.

Alan and his wife Leslie and their two sons, Zachary and Josh are long-time residents of Lexington. They are active members of Temple Emunah, a Conservative synagogue which shares its roots with Temple Isaiah. Alan is currently a Board member and Chair of the Solar Energy Committee. He previously co-chaired Emunah’s successful capital campaign and served as Vice President of Membership.
