We are thrilled to have well-known sports columnist and Boston Globe Associate Editor Dan Shaughnessy join us to lead an open and interactive discussion on local and national sports.  Dan will speak briefly about his career and experiences covering Boston sports over the past 46 years, and then will answer your questions for the remainder of the hour.

Dan Shaughnessy was born in Groton, Massachusetts, graduated from Holy Cross, and worked part-time at the Boston Globe from 1974-77.  He covered the Baltimore Orioles for the Baltimore Evening Sun and the Washington Star from 1977-81.  He re-joined the Globe fulltime in 1981 and has been a sports columnist since 1989.  He has been named Massachusetts Sportswriter of the Year 14 times and 12 times has been voted one of America's top ten sports columnists by the Associated Press Sports Editors.  In 2016 Shaughnessy was the recipient of the J. G. Taylor Spink Award for "meritorious contributions to baseball writing,'' presented at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

Shaughnessy has written twelve books, including New York Times bestseller Francona, The Curse of the Bambino, and Senior Year.  He is currently at work on a book about his days covering the 1980s’ Larry Bird Celtics.  He makes regular appearances on MLB Network, WHDH “SportsXtra”, NBC Sports Boston and KISS 108 FM’s “Matty in the Morning”.  He holds honorary doctorates from Southern New Hampshire University and Nichols College.  He is married to Dr. Marilo Shaughnessy and lives in Newton, Massachusetts.
