7:00 PM - 9:00 PMSocial HallThe facilitator for the discussion is Maria-Veronica Barnes, Director of Diversity Education at Lexington Montessori School. She will use Jennifer Harvey's book Raising White Kids: Bringing up Children in a Racially Unjust America as a guide. Harvey's book offers specific strategies for parents, grandparents, and other caretakers of white children to help them navigate our racially divided world. Using this book as a guide, we will practice responses to challenging situations. (Participants will benefit from reading the book ahead of time, but it’s not required.) Parents and grandparents of young children are encouraged to attend.
