Yom Shabbat will hold a “Gershwin Gala” celebrating the life and music of George Gershwin, the iconic American composer whose music spanned both popular and classical genres. The program is being written and performed by Mark Morgan, Baritone and Director of Music at Hancock Church, Stephen Whitfield, Professor Emeritus at Brandeis University, Cantor Lisa Doob, vocalist, and the Jeweltones A Cappella Singers. (This team won rave reviews at last year’s Bernstein-Sondheim Yom Shabbat). Rob Humphreville, Temple pianist, will accompany the show.
