Administrative Assistant 

Temple Isaiah seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented, and personable Administrative Assistant to support our Director of Youth and Family Education and the broader education team. As a member of our collaborative synagogue staff, the Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, providing outstanding communication and customer service, and contributing to a warm and welcoming environment for families, educators, and congregants.  

Key Responsibilities  

  • Provide direct administrative support to the Director of Youth and Family Education  

  • Manage calendars, communications, and special projects across the Youth and Family Education department  

  • Support HR-related tasks, such as onboarding and payroll, for part-time religious school staff  

  • Maintain and update student records and reports using the ShulCloud database and its CRM  

  • Manage religious school enrollment and event registration, including creating registration forms 

  • Oversee food orders, supply purchasing, name tag creation, and classroom organization in partnership with other temple staff, and help with program setup and cleanup as needed 

  • Assist in publication of program calendars, web content, publicity emails, and family communications 

  • Book offsite programming and transportation as needed  

  • Serve as point-of-contact for students, families, and faculty during school hours  

  • Provide general support to other educators as needed 

  • Provide administrative support, similar to the above, for adult education programs organized by the Senior Rabbi 

  • Provide general administrative support in the temple office, as part of the administrative team, including answering phones, admitting visitors at the front door, and responding to email inquiries

  • Positive interpersonal skills; comfortable working with clergy, educators, students, families, lay leaders, and prospective members  

  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion  

  • Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate across departments  

Technology and Tools  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.), Google Workspace, and Zoom  

  • Experience with or willingness to learn synagogue management systems (e.g., ShulCloud), email marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact), and form-building software  

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree required  

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative or executive assistant role  

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and responsibilities independently  

  • Prior experience in a non-profit, educational, or synagogue setting preferred  

  • Knowledge of or interest in Judaism and Jewish communal life is a plus  

 

Schedule and Compensation 

  • Full-time (37 hours/week) based out of our Lexington office  

  • Onsite hours required during religious school programming (September–May), including:  

  • Sundays: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM  

  • Tuesdays: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM  

  • Wednesdays: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM  

  • Salary range: $55,000-$62,000, commensurate with experience  

  • Benefits include medical, vision, and dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, paid vacation, and sick leave  

  • Temple Isaiah is closed for up to 11 federal holidays and 8 Jewish holidays and closes at 2:00 PM on Fridays
