Considering joining a synagogue? The diversity of our membership and the breadth of our activities create a multi-dimensional community that is better experienced than described. We invite you to join us for a worship service, stop by the temple offices to meet our staff, contact our Membership Committee and explore the pages of this website.

Membership in Temple Isaiah brings with it numerous benefits. These include :

  • The ability to participate in a wide variety of adult learning programs
  • Access to our religious school program for children from kindergarten through high school
  • Attendance at High Holy Day services
  • Opportunities to participate in the governance of the Temple
  • Engagement with our clergy, who are available for life cycle events as well as for everyday counsel.
  • Eligibility for discounts at Jewish summer camps
  • Or having fun on Mitzvah Day
  • Membership includes the individual (and spouse, if married), children and dependent adults residing with a member family. Annual dues for membership include all religious activities of the synagogue, except school fees and the building fund. We are strongly committed to our long-standing policy that no one is refused membership because of inability to pay. Requests for special arrangements are treated confidentially. Temple Isaiah offers special reduced dues for members under the age of thirty five, under 30, and over the age of seventy.

We have grown to be a congregation of 840 households because our members have found Temple Isaiah to be a Jewish community that brings value to their lives, offers meaningful personal connections with others and inspires them to be part of a greater Jewish world. We invite you to get to know our community.

An Inclusive Community

Temple Isaiah is a warm, caring, and inclusive community in which we can each use our unique gifts and offerings. We strive to be an accessible congregation, welcoming those with physical and learning disabilities as well as mental health challenges. We cherish our diversity and we intentionally welcome all who wish to participate in our Jewish community: families, singles, couples, with and without children; people of all sexual orientation and gender identity or expression; Jews by birth and by choice, interfaith families and partners, and those wishing to learn more about Judaism.

New Members

If you are a new member, the Membership Committee is a resource for your first few years of affiliation, as described below.  Please let us know what we can do to help you feel at home!

Membership Committee

Our Membership Committee works to help new members feel welcome and comfortable in our congregation during their first years of affiliation. Programs vary, and have included a Shabbat service honoring new members, delivery of Purim baskets, and a brunch to meet other new members.

The Membership Committee also promotes the integration of all members into the religious, social, educational, and social-action activities at Temple Isaiah. We provide programs and support for our diverse community, including Jews-by-choice, those considering conversion, interfaith families, and parents whose children are involved in interfaith relationships. We provide information, classes, a network of friends, and help to sensitize the congregation and the community to the needs of these members. One goal of the committee is to provide an atmosphere of support in which all of us can make Jewish choices in our lives.

Committee members make themselves available to provide all new and recent members with someone they can call if and when they need advice. If you have been made to feel welcomed at Isaiah or feel there’s more to do, please join us in welcoming others. If you are a new (or newer) member and would like our help, please let us know.
