About Rabbi Battis

Rabbi Jordi Battis understands Judaism to be a vocabulary that we can use to bring meaning and purpose to our everyday actions and building of community. Before coming to Temple Isaiah, she served as Rabbi-Educator at Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, MA and as Associate Rabbi at Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland, MA. An alumna of Williams College and Harvard Divinity School, she received rabbinic and education degrees from Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles, where she was part of the prestigious HUC Mandel Fellowship in education and rabbinic leadership. She has lived and worked across the Israeli and American Jewish communities in experiential, camp, and Hillel settings.

Rabbi Battis serves as the Lavine Associate Rabbinic Chair, a role through which she strives to build connections, strength, and care across the entire range of our temple community. Her portfolio ranges from partnering with lay leaders to oversee our Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) initiatives, to walking with individuals and families through times of celebration and grief; teaching and learning with children, teens, and adults in our congregation to creating moments for spiritual reflection and relationship from the bimah and beyond. She is deeply invested in creating community rooted in values of inclusion and lifelong learning, in which each person is welcomed, honored, and supported for who they are.
