Massachusetts State Treasurer Deb Goldberg Speaks on “Doing Well While Doing Good”

Deb will be speaking about her experiences in the private, non-profit, and public sectors, and how she has used her values as a driving force to implement policies and programs aimed at helping, and empowering others.

Massachusetts State Treasurer Deb Goldberg brings a unique combination of skills and values to the state Treasurer’s office. Drawing upon her expertise and experience in both the private and public sectors, Deb has promoted fiscal policies and programs to ensure opportunity for all. Her desire to bring commonsense business principles to benefit the public good comes from lessons she learned her entire life.

Economic empowerment, economic security, and economic stability have been Deb’s personal mission and inspire her in everything she does. She has a passion and commitment to repairing the world and believes that government can have an important role to play in improving people’s lives.

Prior to becoming Treasurer, Deb served for six years on the Brookline Board of Selectmen, including two as its Chair. Previously, she worked for many years at The Stop & Shop Companies, a company founded by her family. Deb has been actively involved with numerous philanthropic activities, including Combined Jewish Philanthropies, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Berkshire Hills Music Academy, Planned Parenthood League of MA, and the Greater Boston Food Bank to name a few.

A graduate of Boston University, Boston College Law School and Harvard Business School, Ms. Goldberg lives in Brookline with her husband Michael Winter and their son, Evan, and daughter, Meredith.

Talks in this series are sponsored by Brotherhood, and include a delicious buffet breakfast of assorted bagels, smoked salmon, pickled herring, whitefish salad, tabbouleh, desserts and more. Breakfast begins at 9:15 am The presentation runs from 9:45 am to 10:45 am and is usually followed by a question and answer session. Admission is $10; free to Brotherhood members.
