Mind-Body Approaches to Health and Wellbeing

Sunday, March 31, 2019 24 Adar II 5779

2:30 PM - 5:00 PMSocial Hall

Nearly 40% of American adults use approaches to their health and wellbeing, such as meditation and massage, that fall outside our traditional system of medical care. Interest in these mind-body, or “complementary” modalities, has been rapidly growing, but their benefits are not widely understood by the general public.

The Mental Health Team is offering this introductory workshop to allow participants to learn more about them and actually experience what they have to offer. Instructors will be teaching the basics of Qigong, healing meditation, Swedish self-massage, and Reiki.

Our instructors include Carol Rogers, a licensed clinical social worker who incorporates mind-body work into her practice and is a certified group leader in Spring Forest Qigong; Cynthia Piltch, leader of Isaiah’s Mental Health Team and a health educator, massage therapist, and Reiki Master Teacher with 25 years of experience in mind-body work; and Matia Angelou, a Rabbinic Pastoral Counselor who has taught meditation in a variety of settings, including Hebrew College and Temple Isaiah. She blends her knowledge of meditation with Spirit Song to create a vibrational immersion for healing.

There is no charge for this workshop. Just wear comfortable clothes and bring an open mind. RSVPs encouraged for our planning purposes. There will be a reception immediately after. Please contact Shana Alexander for more information or to reserve your place.
