QUEERY (LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group)

QUEERY is an identity-based affinity group that operates as part of the Temple Isaiah Religious School and is open to all queer and questioning teens in Grades 6-12.

In QUEERY, queer and questioning teens are able to express themselves, build connections, share experiences, and learn from one another in a space where they can depend on the shared identity of those around them. Most QUEERY events are held on the weekend.

Inclusion Statement

QUEERY will never ask teens to share or "prove" their identities, nor will admission be denied to any teen in Grades 6-12 who seeks to participate.

QUEERY is a space for teens who are queer and questioning, not for allies. Allies are so important to our inclusive community, and we invite and encourage allies to practice their support at other times and in other spaces as part of our teen or broader community.

QUEERY's Goals Include:

Providing a safe space for queer and questioning teens to connect.

Providing a queer space free from antisemitism.

Creating a community that will support teens as they explore the intersection between their Jewish and queer identities.

Keeping teens connected to our community during private personal growth, and help them rejoin the larger community when they are ready.

Meeting the needs of queer and questioning teens based on their input.

Empowering queer and questioning teens to explore and advocate for their queer identities within our Temple Isaiah community.
