Knitzvah

A component of Hineini: The Temple Isaiah Caring Community

Knitzvah is a Temple-wide group that meets year-round to share conversation and coffee/tea while knitting or crocheting for others. The group began in 2008 to make shawls and lap throws for those in the Temple Community in need of a caring hug. However, we were so prolific that we now also make and donate items to domestic abuse survivors through two organizations as well as distribute warm hats and scarves to homeless men and women in Waltham.

Knitzvah meets twice a month. You may choose between a Monday morning group and a Sunday morning group – or join us at both. No experience needed – just your desire to be part of a caring community. Knitzvah has a supply of donated needles, yarn, and patterns, although you are encouraged to bring your own supplies. Join us regularly or periodically. We have members who seldom come to meetings, preferring to knit at home or on the go, but they bring in their finished products.

With rare exceptions, the Monday group meets on the second Monday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Temple Isaiah Library. The Sunday group meets at Panera Bread in Lexington Center from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday dates are scheduled several months in advance. Meeting dates are listed in the Temple Isaiah weekly email Digest and shared via email with the Knitzvah group.

To have your name put on our email list, or if you have any questions, please email the Knitzvah Coordinators, Harriet Silverman, Joann Brennan, Elizabeth Elkins, and Suzanne Frank.
