Something new for Shabbat this week

03/19/2020 10:52:03 AM

Mar19

This Friday, Rabbi Jaffe, Rabbi Maimin, and Cantor Doob will lead Shabbat services together -- from their homes!

Rabbi Jaffe explains, "The three of us are working hard on organizing a worship service that will be as seamless as possible given the fact that we will all be in different places (as I have said a number of times, this is not the kind of thing they taught us about in rabbinic school or cantorial school).  We think we can do this, though we fully expect that there will be some hiccups and some memorable moments along the way."

This service will be streamed via the Isaiah website and Facebook Live -- and also via Zoom so that there can be a few opportunities for more active participation. Those participating via Zoom will be able to wish each other Shabbat shalom at the beginning of the service, and share your voices for Mourner’s Kaddish.

Rabbi Maimin will lead Shabbat morning minyan with a similar approach.

It's not quite the same as being together in person, but we hope this experiment will be valuable and meaningful!
